Keys Open New Doors
There’s a saying that goes something like this: “If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” I believe Thomas Jefferson was the one who said it—and it’s a quote that has guided us from the very beginning.
When we first opened our maintenance shop in 2022 in Hawaii, it started as a simple dream—to one day have a hangar of our own to work out of. But as many in aviation know, in Hawaii, you must own an airplane to qualify for a hangar. That meant most mechanics either tucked away a “project plane” somewhere to make it legal to have a hangar, or they worked out of the back of a truck. Since we didn’t own a plane at the time, we made do with what we had—working out of the back of our Jeep Wrangler or in our customers’ hangars. It wasn’t ideal, but we made it work with a lot of dedication and resourcefulness.
In 2024, our family made the move to Washington in search of new opportunities and experiences for our kids—ones they might not have had if we stayed in Hawaii. Our maintenance business came with us, but we chose to take some time to settle in before reopening. Fortune smiled on us when we were able to secure a T-hangar for the airplane we purchased in 2023—something that felt nearly impossible in Hawaii given the long waitlists. The timing couldn’t have been better, as new hangars had just been completed.
Now, almost two years after moving to Washington, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re officially reopening Pacific Aviation Solutions. I’ve always believed that success comes from taking calculated risks—and this step is exactly that. Knowing that maintenance work would be tight in a T-hangar, we seized the opportunity to secure a second, larger hangar to operate from.
As of Friday evening, we’ve taken possession of our new space and are beginning to move in tools, shelving, and parts inventory. It’s an exciting new chapter for us, and we can’t wait to welcome our Pacific Northwest aviation community into our little corner of the airport.
